Social Services Agencies

Receiving Support from St. Luke

A major portion of the our Outreach Ministry Team budget is distributed to local social service agencies to support their valuable work in the area, especially providing shelter, food, and other services to the most needy members of our community- the greater Groton, New London, Ledyard, Norwich, and Preston communities. The organizations we currently support with quarterly gifts are:


Katie Blair House (KBH) - The Katie Blair House in Norwich is a transitional housing program for 8 women who can stay up to 2 years. It is part of the Bethsaida Community and funded by HUD, DOH, and DMHAS. http://www.bethsaidact.org/


Reliance Health - Reliance Health partners with adults experiencing mental health, addiction, and developmental disabilities to enhance their quality of life. http://www.reliancehouse.org/


Thames River Family Program - Thames River Family Program is a 24-hour staffed, transitional living programs with 24 apartments for families who can stay up to two years. http://www.trfp.org/


Covenant Shelter - The Covenant Shelter provides emergency housing for men, women and families of New London for a variety of reasons.


New London Homeless Hospitality Center - The Homeless Hospitality Center provides a place of safety and welcome to all southeastern Connecticut adults who find themselves facing homelessness. http://www.nlhhc.org/


Thames Valley Council for Community Action Homeless Shelter - TVCCA is a private, non-profit Community Action Agency advocating for and meeting the needs of the region's economically and otherwise disadvantaged citizens. http://www.tvcca.org/


Norwich Human Services - Norwich Human Services provides social services to Norwich residents. http://www.norwichct.org/index.aspx?NID=212


Martin House - Martin House, Inc. provides affordable, single room occupancy housing for up to 5 adults, both men and women, 18 years and older who have experienced mental health problems, substance abuse, homelessness and poverty. http://www.martinhousect.org/


New London Community Meal Center - The New London Community Meal Center was created to respond to the needs of New London's most vulnerable residents by providing nutritious meals in a kind, hospitable, and clean environment. http://nlcommunitymealcenter.org/


St. Vincent de Paul Place - St. Vincent de Paul Place is a community meal site and food pantry that strives to meet the needs of homeless people and families with limited income in the greater Norwich area. http://www.svdpp.org/


Gemma Moran Food Bank - Gemma E. Moran United Way/ Labor Food Center, located in New London, has played a key role in providing one of the building blocks to a good quality of life by feeding food insecure individuals and families all across our greater New London/ Groton/ Norwich community. http://www.uwsect.org/food-center


Friends of Maria - Friends of Maria is a community of women whose motto "growing opportunities for women" defines their mission. http://www.friendsofmaria.org/


Furniture Bank of Southeast Connecticut - Established in 1982 as an outreach of St. Luke, the Furniture Bank was incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 2005. They collect used furniture and give it to people who are experiencing financial hardship.


Habitat for Humanity of Eastern CT - Habitat for Humanity of Eastern Connecticut, in the spirit of sharing, creates decent and affordable homes in partnership with families in need. http://www.habitatect.org/


Ledyard Food Locker - The Ledyard Food Locker was recently renovated and serves the residents of Ledyard.


Preston Food Pantry - The Preston Food Pantry, serving the needs of Preston residents has recently been expanded.
