Lay Pastoral Care

Reaching out to the congregation and friends in need.

  • Meal Ministry

Meals are prepared for families in crisis when the preparation of a meal could be just another addition to the stress that the family may already be experiencing. Volunteers prepare simple casseroles and meals that just need to be reheated and deliver them to the family.

  • Prayer Shawl Ministry

Knitters, quilters, and crocheters band together to create prayer shawls, baptismal blankets and other works of love and provide them for the taking by any of our friends and members.

  • Healing Prayer Ministry

Under the guidance of the Pastors, lay members offer healing prayer during the communion portion of the service on the first Sunday of the month. Individuals may request healing prayers for themselves or others who may be in need of healing. The lay members of the team also pray throughout the month for those in need of healing.

  • Caring Friends Ministry

Under the guidance of the Pastors, the Caring Friends Ministry is a group of lay members taking communion to those who can't come to worship, visiting and doing all kinds of ministry within our church.

  • Pastors' Good Samaritan Fund

Through donations and an annual budget line item, St. Luke maintains a fund managed by the Pastors that provides them with the ability to provide monetary assistance to those in need. Most often this assistance is in the form of gas or grocery gift cards.
